Our President Capt. Dimokratis Tatanis, had the honour to have participated at The “Chios Festival 2025” that successfully highlighted, for the fourth consecutive year, the rich history and culture of the island.

At the historic Castelli, he had the opportunity to follow:

  • A keynote speech by Mr Apostolos Tzitzikostas, EU Commissioner for Transport & Tourism
  • A discussion between Prof. Kevin Featherstone (LSE) and Loukas Tsoukalis (ELIAMEP)
  • Interventions by distinguished figures, including Lord Simon Woolley, Ioulia Tseti, and Sofia Staikou

The evening concluded with an exceptional opera performance, featuring Elena Kelesidou, Inca Balavanova, Giorgos Davlas, and Dimitris Giakas.

Representing the Hellenic Maritime Club of Hamburg, the President held discussions with Mr. Tzitzikostas regarding the challenges the shipping industry faces under the new CO₂ emissions legislation. Mr. Tzitzikostas warmly committed to visiting Hamburg and attending the Club’s celebration at the Greek Embassy in Berlin on December 6.

Special thanks were extended to the North Aegean Region and Governor Konstantinos Moutzouris, as well as to his wife, Irini Moutzouri, who was responsible for the overall organization, for ensuring the event’s excellent execution.
